Our Pre-School for 3-5 year olds is based in the Church’s Centenary Hall and adjoining outdoor areas. We are a Funded Partner with the City of Edinburgh Council. We open between 8:25am and 3:30pm during school terms with most of the children attending 1,140 hours per year, spread over four or five days. There are a few ‘mornings only’ places. Little Lunches delivers our hot lunches four days a week and we serve a ‘café style’ lunch on Fridays.
The staff team of Early Years Practitioners is led by teacher/manager, Mrs Kyra Okoth. The Management Committee comprises church members and parent representatives, and reports to the Kirk Session. Our high standard is maintained through regular self-evaluation, supported by visits from the City of Edinburgh Council Quality Improvement Officer.
The Pre-school believe that the learning environment is the main teacher. The children enjoy exploring and using the many creative and interactive spaces that are tailored to their interests and which support learning and development across all aspects of the early level of the Curriculum for Excellence.
